At a glance
In short: Plantis requires no account, collects no personally identifying data, shows no advertising and sells nothing. Your scans, your health profile and your history stay on your device. Only the text you type into the Advice assistant is sent to our servers to generate a reply (see §4).
1. Who we are
Plantis is an iOS app providing information about medications and herbal medicine, published by Mitch Landry (France). For any question: mitch_landry@live.fr.
2. What we do not collect
No account, no sign-up, no personal identifier.
No payment data: purchases are handled exclusively by Apple.
No advertising, no ad trackers, no sharing with third parties for commercial purposes.
3. Medication scanning
Recognition of medication packaging (photo or camera) is performed on your device using Apple Vision technologies. Photos never leave your phone. Only the detected medication name (or your search query) is sent anonymously to our server to query public medication databases (the official French database) and generate the information displayed.
4. Network requests
Medication search and alternative suggestions: anonymous requests, with no user identifier.
Trend statistics: an aggregated, anonymous counter of the most searched medications.
Plant images: loaded from public encyclopedic sources (e.g. Wikipedia).
Advice assistant: the text you type (and the previous messages in the conversation) is sent, only after you consent in the app, to our server, then passed to an artificial-intelligence provider to write the reply: Anthropic as the primary provider, OpenAI only as a fallback. The transfer is encrypted. No account or device identifier is attached: the request is anonymous. We do not retain the content of your messages — our technical logs record only their length. These providers may retain it for up to 30 days for safety and abuse prevention, unless legally required otherwise. Please do not enter information that could identify you.
5. Health data
If you choose to enable the Health (HealthKit) integration or to fill in a profile (allergies, treatments, pregnancy), that information is stored only on your device and is used solely to personalise the warnings shown. It is never transmitted to our servers or to third parties. This does not cover the text you yourself type into the Advice assistant, which is handled as described in §4.
The Health integration reads only two characteristics: your date of birth and your biological sex, read-only, to pre-fill your profile. Plantis never writes to Health and reads no health records. This reading happens only when you tap "Connect Apple Health" yourself, during the initial setup — there is no automatic or background synchronisation. Your allergies and current treatments are entered manually by you, and are never imported from Health. This information stays on your device, is not stored in iCloud, and is used solely to warn you about a possible contraindication. You can revoke this access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Plantis.
6. History, favourites and settings
Your scan history, favourites, herbarium and preferences are stored locally on your device. Deleting the app deletes this data.
7. Subscriptions and purchases
Plantis+ subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Apple's App Store. We receive neither your identity nor your payment details. To manage or cancel: iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
8. Notifications
Daily reminders and tips are local notifications, scheduled on your device. You can turn them off at any time in iOS settings.
9. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify and erase your data. As almost all data is stored on your device, erasing it is done by deleting the app. For any request: mitch_landry@live.fr.
